01 · APPROACH
Common Room is built around 27 public-domain artworks from different artists, periods and styles. We wanted the store to feel curated rather than like an archive, while still making the catalogue easy to browse and practical to manage in Shopify.
The design stays restrained around the artwork, while the structure underneath keeps collections, product information and browsing routes clear and consistent.

02 · THE BUILD
Collections that organise themselves
Product data powers five automated collections, so new work can be added without manually rebuilding the catalogue. The collection layouts keep very different artworks feeling consistent without forcing them into the same visual style.
One product template, lots of information
Every artwork uses the same product structure for sizes, artist information, specifications, framing, shipping and related works. The layout keeps all of that easy to find without competing with the artwork.
More ways to browse
Collections, related products and next-product navigation give people several routes through the store instead of relying on one long product grid. The interface stays simple so browsing still feels calm and editorial.
AI imagery for context
The room, lifestyle and campaign imagery was created specifically for Common Room using AI, giving the artwork scale and context while leaving the original public-domain works unchanged.
